[DeTomaso] LPC: Radar in the rain

Radar is all-weather- fighter planes depend on it as well as airliners during landings in bad weather. The ONLY known way to actually beat radar is to instantly hit the brakes when your detector lights up. Detectors normally have a better range than the gun since the gun's wave has to go out, reflect, and travel back. So you have a tiny bit of time. If your speed is rapidly varying- as in hard braking or hard acceleration, the gun will not be able to 'lock on'. The actual amount of time.distance available depends on your detector, the gun and the band it uses. After the fact, no way out. Sorry, friend- J Deryke

Limited Pantera content - do radar guns work in the rain? How heavy
does it have to rain before they stop working? How much does it have to
rain before the radar waves get blocked by the raindrops and can't get
through to your car and back? Or for all intents and purposes, if there
is enough water falling to block the radar waves then you have no
   business driving anyway?

Had a 7 hour drive today and had lots of time to wonder...
