All,

I too find the POCA board's reversal of the previously stated pdf policy to be .... HIGHLY less than admirable.

I believe the POCA board's conduct in managing our current POCA election leaves a .... LOT to be desired.

But as for the posted (by a forum member who did not have the integrity to sign his/her name, nor write from a personally identifiable email address) belief the POCA board would engage in back-room shenanigans in an effort to manage the election outcome, I have my very sincere doubts this is the case.

Why do I have this belief? Please read on.

The election proctor is Dr. Chuck Engles. As many POCA members, I have personally known Chuck for years. His devotion to photographing activities during numerous Fun Rallys is that of legend, with his photos appearing in countless POCA publications and on many event tee shirts. In addition, Chuck is known for sharing his entire Fun Rally event photo collections through online photo albums, so anyone could view, and print, photos that caught their interest.

As PCNC motorsports director I oversaw five Fun Rally Speed Trial events. I worked closely with Chuck on those events, and even when the Reno-Fernley Racetrack management blocked Chuck from undertaking his traditional photography duties, his demeanor and quality of character was above reproach.

For the POCA board's recent pdf policy change to be driven by knowledge the results were not trending to "their" preferences would require the Board to have advance knowledge of the as-of-yet unreleased election results. Such advance knowledge could only come from Chuck.

I firmly believe Chuck would never release any specific details of the election tallies prior to his post-election official reporting of those results to the POCA board.

The above referenced forum posting can easily be read as to be implying Chuck Engles has engaged in collusion with the POCA board to improperly manage the election results.

Whether or not that posting was intended to convey such an implication, only the anonymous poster truly knows.

Nonetheless, that posting may influence some readers to infer such collusion has occurred.

To imply, or to infer, Chuck Engles would dishonor his personal character or his responsibilities as POCA election proctor are both actions I believe require a prompt and definitive rebuttal.

Please consider this posting to be that rebuttal.

Sincerely,

Larry Finch
