First of all, DeTomaso himself never ordered any of these Spyders.
Armin Fischer, the former DT Importer for Germany had the idea and got
the permission of DeTomaso for the conversions. The very first Spyder
was build on an in an accident totalled coupe. I have the complete files
in my database. All Spyders are later converted coupes. The major
difference is, if it was a new car, that was converted, or as in this
case an old and used body. Years ago, i talked to Ernesto Pavesi about
these conversions. He was kind enough, to tell me, that he forgot the
most of the details. I got a list of Vin numbers thrue the back door of
original conversions of Panteras and Longchamps. The Pantera vin's count
14 cars and the Longchamp vin's count 12 cars. I'm sure, they made more
of both thrue the back door, because DeTomaso charged for his
permissions quite an amount of money.

According to De Tomaso they only made 11 Spyders, but there do seem to
be a lot more than that out there.

Loves me a Longchamp Spyder in non-GTS guise like this one. Send
those wheels to the aluminum recycling yard, fit the originals on,
and you're in Nirvana....
