[DeTomaso] Fuel pump expired

That was the first thing I checked. The tank was low but registering. Just
to be certain, I added 2 gallons and the needle moved up a bit but still no
gas at the carb.

Funny story though. My son's girlfriend years back had a Honda. She said it
had been running rough on the way home but got her home. Next day it would
not start. You can see this one coming based on the thread but I did not
back then.

Trying to diagnose it over the phone, I asked her when the last time it was
tuned up. She had the car a few years and it had never been tuned up. Hero
to the rescue! Before I even saw the car, I bought plugs, cap, rotor, air
filter, wires and brought some throttle body cleaner and ether. I gave her
a quick tune up before I tried to start it myself. Did not take long to
realize she parked on an incline with fumes in the tank and she was sucking
air. Fired up with ether easily. I had to buy a gas can, bring her gas,
and the car started right up.

She claimed to be very embarrassed but thanked me for making her car run
better than it ever had.

So, yes, Asa, I would not put it past anybody after that.

Rob
