Well if you have 17 inch front tire that is just a touch too big and you
don't roll the front fender and you do a 720 degree spin on a race track.
You get body work. Just saying .
Strongly suggest rolling the front fender if you go to 17 inch front wheels.

A A Let me explain further.
A A The 5.25" back spacing for the stock 8x15 should directly apply
to the
A A 8x17
A A for the front. A Wheel diameter doesn't affect where the edges
of the
A A tire
A A are for a given tire width and outer tire diameter. A For a
stock bodied
A A Pantera that has had its spacers removed, you can't go any
crazier than
A A a
A A 245mm wide tire on the front and sometimes you have to drop
back to 235
A A or
A A 225 depending on the particular car.
A A At the rear, if you put 1/2 the additional 1" wider wheel width
on each
A A side
A A of the wheel, all you'll get is a wider tire section width near
the rim
A A with
A A the same section width at the crown of the tread. A For an 11"
wheel vs
A A the
A A 10" Campy, a 5.75" back spacing achieves this because it is the
stock
A A 10"
A A wide Campy's 5.25" backspace + 1/2 the additional wheel width.
A The
A A tire
A A center remains at the same point on the car with either the
stock 8x15
A A Campy
A A or the 8x17. A What could be a safer choice that this?

A A Thanks Doug. But as I said, back spacing for different size
wheels
A A isn't
