[DeTomaso] Clutch master and slave fluid

Excellent observation! Oh, and if you plan to just drive your car for years
and years and years and not worry about the rubber in the brake or clutch
system rotting away, well, silicone is great stuff! Witness my XKE which
has not had to have its brakes or clutch rebuilt in the 35 years and 130,000
miles since I switched.

We have to remember that not everyone wants a yellow car with ostrich-skin
upholstery, or to run their car on a track.

Silicon brake fluids are intended for show cars and garage queens. It is a
bad idea if you plan to do any performance driving!!!

You could use silicone brake fluid.
You should rebuild both master and slave cylinders and flush the line well
to get the old normal fluid out.

Yes, it is a little more compressible than the glycol-based normal fluid but
it should work.

I used silicone brake fluid for the brakes and clutch when I restored my TR6
and am glad I did- those masters sit right above a
large exposed painted area that would have been ruined if I hadn't.

With all this talk of clutch master and slave cylinders-----
I was wonderingA A Could jack oil or ATF be used instead of brake
   fluid ?
Its a bad day when the slave leaks and eats up the paint !!
