[DeTomaso] Any experience with Marino's offset control arm bushings to increase caster?

Mike,
The camber lock includes a thin arm (about 1/8 inch thick) that fits between the upper ball joint and the control arm and acts like a wide shim.

No, as the camber adjustment moves the top of the spindle in and out.
We're talking about castor here. Moving the shims to the front of the
ball joint at the top serves to move the top of the spindle to the
rear, adding to the offset top/bottom of the bushings. If you're
lucky, your castor will be even on both sides (don't ask me how I
managed to get a car that is . . . ).
Good Luck

Mike,
I think installing a camber lock sorta does that? At least the
instructions I have seen look like part of the camber lock acts as a
shim moving the upper ball joint towards the rear.

The other thing to do is to move all of the shims on your ball joint to
the
forward side. That in combination with the bushings greatly improved
my
self-centering even with 245 front tires.
My wife would agree on the self-centering part . . . . ;-)

Chuck,
Marino said they only provide maybe one additional degree of
caster.
Did you do something more than just make one end thinner? Seems like
you
can only get maybe 1/8 inch (1/4 inch total) of shifting? I'm not sure
what
the separation between ball joints is, but that looks like less than 2
degrees of added caster?

Dear Ken,
1) no experience with Marino's offset bushings
2) The offset homemade bushings I have provide 5 degrees
of
positive caster with major improvement in handling and high speed
stability. Highly recommended
3) Marino is a good guy and a reliable, reputable
vendor
in my opinion.
