fwiw, I couple of years ago I was able to convince an insurance company
(CSAA) to "untotal" a truck that a neighbor's kid plowed into in the middle
of the night. I was persistent, and used current craigslist ads to convince
them to repair my truck, AND to reverse the salvage title with the DMV.
The whole process took about 4 months, and I still have a 72 F-250 to go
with my 72 Pantera.
