[DeTomaso] Le Mans Classic 2014

If you are thinking about attending, my recommendation would be to not rely
on estimations or heresay, but investigate a little bit how much it would
really cost to ship a car to Europe.

You may be pleasantly surprised. When I moved to France in the last 90's, I
had completely discarded bringing my Pantera with me as I naturally assumed
it would be too expensive/risky. When I actually got a few quotes, I saw
that it was actually rather doable, and therefore I did it.

I used a RORO twice with no issues. Mike Drew used a RORO when he shipped
his GT-350 clone over, and again when he shipped it back. No issues. It's
the method used by all normal European cars when imported to the US, and all
American cars when imported to Europe.

The importation process was extremely easy - I arrived at the port in Le
Havre, and in less than 10 minutes I was happily motoring away from the
port. Yes, you need to prepare ahead of time and the trickiest part may be
insurance, but my experience was completely painless. And there is nothing
like driving in Europe with your own Pantera - it will be a different
experience I promise!

The broker I used has long since retired or I'd give you his info.

Or throw it on a boat for less and risk it ending up a narrow body at
destination?

I have a friend who is doing the MM next time, Lufthansa out of JFK,
strapped to a giant flat pallet, 12K each way.

Ouch.

LS,

It's not difficult to get your car over there, especially to England. It
will be crazy expensive though!
