Michael ,
I don't want to be a nit picker, but I can't seem to help it. Gumball is not
a race, it's a cross country or sometimes international event that is more
of a party, there is no first place and no prize but there is a large entry
fee. the Gumball is what our member Bob Levitt was in a few years ago.
Richard Rawlings and Dennis Collins are both reportedly Cannonball racers
(if you recall the Burt Reynolds film loosely based on the race called
Cannonball Run) supposedly both Rawlings and Collins both hold Cannonball
race records going from NY to LA in less then the previous record time of
32 hours and 51 minutes. I have seen reports referring to their attempt as
both the cannonball run and the Bullrun. Rawlings and Collins drove
together and had $50k bet that they could ( and did) break the record. I
have also seen a report that Rawlings was in the Gumball but as I mentioned
it's not a race it's a 5 day party.
