[DeTomaso] New book on Cleveland Engines by George Reid

Just received the book and skimmed through it. It looks worth the money,
definitely. I like that the front page has a picture of an engine with CHI
heads and fabricated alu valve covers just like mine J, it's not just orig
blue heads and blue iron valve covers.

It seems to be thorough, including casting#s and all that. And of course
goes through each component of the engine. But it also is very up to date,
e.g. including description of MME's Titus block. It spends time on going
through what's available aftermarket, e.g. the many different heads
available. I think this book makes it easier to choose the components you
need. It also includes some bench testing of some built engines, quite
interesting.

What's missing? Well it's not a book you use to assemble an engine, with
torque numbers and patterns, you need another book for that. And the engine
tuning part is weak, but for that of course you have my book, Tuning Made
Easy (sorry).

Somebody mentioned on this "forum" that George had written a book with
errors in it, I don't know if there are any in this book. I haven't read it,
and may not spot the errors, but if I find it, I'll let us all know, as we
all should.

If you're interested in Cleveland engines and consider upping the power a
bit, this looks like a very good book to read.

Mvh/Regards

Mikael
