[DeTomaso] Fwd: Happy for 50 miles or so then not

I'm one more person who had weird and intermittent engine problems that were
traced to a 12 year old MSD box.

I mounted a spare I had and the problem went away. I sent the original to
MSD, they did a diagnosis and repaired what was wrong for about $40.

If you can borrow a spare MSD it is fairly easy to swap on. My box is not
hard mounted anywhere, but is loose behind the passenger seat. It doesn't
move, nor suffer from heat or vibration. The last one lasted 12 years that
way ;-)

I have an MSD ignition system.

>>>My Pantera had its MSD box mounted incorrectly (it was hard-mounted to
the car, not using the rubber isolators that MSD includes). It worked fine
for a few years, but then started acting up like yours did. That didn't
last long though--just a few minutes, and then it quit completely.

Something vibrated loose inside the box. I bought a new one, sent the old
one in for analysis and MSD fixed it for $35 so now I have a spare.

New one is rubber-mounted and has been perfect ever since.

YMMV....
