[DeTomaso] More on Pantera values....

Mike,

Agreed in the most part about Pantera prices, however I'm always a little hesitant to take project Pantera prices and predict them out to what finished examples would sell for. There are a lot of potential owners out there that have a price point well below a good or restored/modified Pantera and very few project Panteras so competeion is fierce and prices get skewed.

I'm finding it's the same with houses; I've been looking for an acreage here locally and anything with a home that requires modernization is selling within days or even hours (we've been outbid on five houses now), but those same houses post the modernization a) don't reflect the dollars put into them for the modernization and b) stay on the market. It's all about the price point that people can get in at and there's a lot more competition at the reduced price levels, despite condition. Yes I wish I had the $$ to get into one of the already modernized ones, but simply can't stretch that far at present and prices in general are on a fairly steep rise again. Sound familiar?

Hi guys,

Just spotted this on E-bay; Jim Demick flipped a beautiful rust-free southwest car for a restoration project:

The selling price would have bought you a really nice driver Pantera just a year or two ago.

Those of you who think that the prices for good, solid, stock Panteras have not really rocketed upwards are kidding yourselves! But, that doesn't necessarily mean that modified cars are following along. I think modified cars (of which mine is definitely one) are appreciating, but not at nearly this rate....
