TOTAL 5,244 Produced

>>>For sale in the US market. I really believe that number to be accurate. What would be interesting to know is if cars imported as preproduction test prototypes, etc. were included in these numbers or not? That number is quite small, and would include cars like the Pantera 7X prototype, the first car to wear L-model bumpers (which was a 2XXX serial number car I think), etc.

Still, in a relatively short time and with very little effort, thanks to some cooperation, we have what is as close to a definitive number as you'll ever see. That leaves about 1200-something for the rest of the world (between 1971-1976 or so), which is also highly believable.

Continued data collection will break down the number of cars produced each year, by color. I'd be really interested, for instance, to see how many GTS cars were made in colors *other* than the normal silver/black or burgundy/black. I know there were a handful of orange/black cars made, for example.
