Yes. Extra motion from looseness in that area subtracts from the small bar 
motion that transfers weight.   Hall's original 'sphere-balls' used a poly 
ball in a molded two-piece plastic housing glued together on assembly. A 
separate aluminum top took the stress of the two mounting bolts. So those early 
'90s units were kind of stiff too but quickly loosened up on the road. Glad
