[DeTomaso] Seats: Specifically the Passenger Side Seat, and the Emergency Brake Housing.

My passenger seat will slide past the e-brake housing but it is so close it has rubbed a tear into the vinyl covering.

Guys:

My passenger seat won't slide as far back as it could/should because the
inside edge hits the outside corner of the e-brake mount housing.

This is a second pair of seats that I picked up, which theoretically is a
driver's side, and a passenger's side seat. But since it's been quite a
while since I had the original seats installed, I don't remember if this
e-brake-housing-to-passenger-seat interference is normal, or simply
something special.

Which brings me to my questions;

Is it normal for the passenger seat to hit the e-brake housing when you try
to slide it back?

If this is "normal", is there a solution besides using a graduated set of
hammers?

I realize that the passenger seat can't slide as far back as the driver's
side due to the bulkhead hatch curve, but I've got to believe that it will
slide farther back than the e-brake housing! But before I begin doing
irrevocable metal bashing, I'd like to hear from anyone that has solved
this problem.... preferably using something more sophisticated than a large
hammer....

...or am I suffering a irreversible bout of metallic fabrication optimism?

Thanks,

Chris
