I have also heard a recommendation to use Yamabond instead of gaskets.

I switched to black RTV instead of a traditional oil pan gasket, and I
like the result.  I am also using black RTV for the ends of the intake.

But that's the 351C.  I can't speak to Yamabond instead of ZF gaskets.
