There are 10 bolts holding the ring gear on. At least, they should all be 
retorqued using a crowfoot adapter, then chain-wired. But replacing them and 
torquing & wiring new bolts is best. Stock bolts are over-hardened and 
sometimes break in use, plus under each bolthead is a serration designed to dig 
in and help lock the bolt. But the carrier surface the boltheads contact is 
too hard to allow 'digging in' so the effect is lost. Also, the hardened 
stock heads are not drilled while U.S-made replacements from the vendors are 
pre-drilled. Altogether, not an easy task if you include R & R-ing the ZF to 
access the bolts. Even inspecting for the possible presence of safety wire 
already there is complex; they are not visible from the drain plug area except 
with a flexible fiber-optic tool.
For extreme competition, the ZF drain AND fill plugs should also be safety 
wired; some race orgs require this. FWIW- J Deryke
