To your "cars are like women" comment, there is a double standard there. We
can all agree that leaking in public is not acceptable and flat ones just
aren't as dun.  We don't like one of them to smoke or drink heavily, and we
expect the other to run around all the time. Good thing body shops keep
both pretty if you can afford it.
