[DeTomaso] Route comments?

SR-120 (Tioga Pass) east of Yosemite to US395 is closed in winter and does not open until mid May at the earliest.
 
If Yosemite National Park is on your 'to do' list you'll have to go in and back out SR-140, even then you'll want to check weather and road conditions and carry tire chains if you don't have a SUV with 4x4.
 
Then your best route would be to head south toward LA and over the Sierra's to Las Vegas. The alternative would be to travel the northern route east over I80 and then head south through Nevada high desert, which has it's own beauty, but gets monotonous after a while, plus weather can still be unpredictable in April.
