[DeTomaso] What Do You Tell People??

Probably heresy on this forum, but when someone asks what my Pantera is
(when it was drivable) I tell them it is an old 1970's Ford two seater
with a Ford engine used in Ford trucks, a transaxle also used in
European trucks, and with a body made out of sheet metal supplied by Fiat.

Most of them ask if the engine came that way, and I continue with the
storyline that in the majority of the cases, no, most of them weren't
turbo charged. When the front hood is up, exposing the methanol tank,
again many folks ask how far can you go on such a small tank?

Then if I feel someone really wants to know about the car, I give them a
brief overview mentioning a lot of what prior posts have said.

The best way I have found to "sell" and "inform" the low knowledge car
person that shows a genuine interest in the car is to give them a
handout that briefly describes the car and the modifications I have made
to it over the years. That way they will have the information in hand
to spread the word about the car.
