Continuing.

The DP (Deceitful Person) can steal a De Tomaso, and part it out.

While a general "chop shop" can make a lot of money, a rare car like a De
Tomaso is not on their target list.

(higher volume, newer models)

Parting out a De Tomaso can be done by a vendor or an individual.

If a De Tomaso vendor was parting out stolen De Tomaso cars and merging the
parts into his inventory,

he probably would also do other "suspect" things. "We" would soon all know
of a vendor with 'trust' issues, and

most De Tomaso owners would stop dealing with a "suspect" vendor. News
travels fast and wide

in a community like ours. Also the fact that so many new parts are
available limits re-sale of used parts.

It is such a small community that even an individual might find it
problematic to part out a De Tomaso for profit.

Keep in mind the DP wants money, fast, easy, and without recourse (arrest).

Holding on to a stolen car for very long increases their risk.

Buyers tend to ask the source, ie, What VIN did this headlight bucket come
from?

Questions like this tend to make the DP seller nervous.

Anyone that has sold some De Tomaso parts knows that it takes time to move
various bits and pieces.

Used part tend to be bulky (rear deck lid), and expensive to ship, and a
hassle to crate. Again, not easy, or fast for the crook.

The much higher parts prices for a Maserati or Ferrari is much more likely
to support the goal of a DP that specializes in exotics.

So this is my general ideas that "professional" crooks (DPs) are not likely
to target our De Tomasos.

Next Re-Titling & VIN changes, and "Cloning" too.
