The various relay kits available (Moseley, Boschert, Haas) are all great, 
and all have a very valid function.

None of them has anything to do with this issue, however.   In fact, if you 
installed it sloppily, you could likely INCREASE the threat.   The problem 
often arises when people disconnect one of the wires from the ammeter, which 
you have to do in order to hook up these kits.   If you fail to tighten the 
connections again, resistance can build up and lead to a fire hazard.

So, the presence of this kit isn't a panacea.   However, if in the course 
of installing it, you tightened the connections properly, then yes, you have 
ensured the safety of the system.   But it's the tightening, not the actual 
addition of the component, that achieves this.
