 Gary,

Since you've started a new project, does this mean your Pantera is done :)?

Subject: [DeTomaso] NPC Electric Vehicle

I asked a while about about motor solutions for an electric Vehicle. Well
I pulled the trigger on a D&D ES-15-6. I am modeling the vehicle loosly
after the Cushman I have been using aorund the shop:

I use this everyday to run back and forth between home/shop and I haul a
lot of stuff; far more then any 4x4 would haul.

The suspension was set up for an industrial setting and had a 2200lb load
rating. As I run across the field back to the house it would bounce the
battery out of the back.

I removed the leaf springs and converted to triangulated 4-link and airbags.

The new cart I got the axle from an old cushman I parted out, stripped it
down, cut off the brackets with a grinder, blasted welded on new brackets
for the triangulated 4-link, coil over shocks, powdercoated then
assembeled with new axle bearings, seals and such. Setting up for disc
brakes:

With the axle set up top speed would be about 20mph. It has a 2-speed gear
box which would reduce top speed in half. I am reversing the gearbox to
make it a speed doubler which required buying another differential worm
gear on ebay to swap around the input shafts:

Begining to set up the frame for the tiangulated 4-link. Will be using
coil over instead of air bags but may add airbags latter for extra lift.
They seem to drain down too much in the winter.

Anyway, it will probably sit for another week or two till I can return to
the project.

Gary
