[DeTomaso] Decent ZF price

I found a ZF locally for a pretty reasonable price, in good condition. It has been sitting in a garage here for 30+ years, and the climate is very dry so it's likely to have no rust. Gearsets, ring & pinion, etc. have no rust as far as I can see through the drain holes. We can shift through all gears and the input shaft & axle stubs turn freely, with no noise. No metal shavings or bits on the magnetic drain plug. Clutch fork & hardware is present but no side mounts. Input shaft is free of rust. What is a reasonable price?

I'm sure it needs new seals. I'm going to pull the bottom cover and look at the ring & pinion. I called Dennis Quella, Steve Wilkinson, and Lloyd B. and they think the price I've been offered is reasonable for the condition as far as I can tell. I'm familiar with the pitfalls of these things. If someone didn't charge a small fortune for parts or a new one, I wouldn't be asking the question.

I intend to purchase it, given the advice of the vendors listed. Just curious what the POCA list's thoughts are.

Corey
