[DeTomaso] NPC: BMW M1 (now Bora)

Jan Norby: Prototype Maserati Bora (designed by Giugiaro) shown at the 
Geneva Auto show in March of 1971- exactly a year after the first Pantera 
prototype was shown in New York on March 1970. Bora roduction began in late '71- 
only 11 Boras built that year (per Rob Dela Rive Box). The basic sillhouette 
is similar to a Pantera but the Bora is heavier, has a longer wheelbase, is 
an inch taller, uses a 4.7-L, 4.9-L or 5-liter DOHC engine and 7-1/2" wide 
Campagnolo wheels on both ends- with chrome hub-caps!   4 double-barrel 
Webers gave 11 mpg during road tests. Two race-prepared Boras built using what 
looks like Pantera Gr-4 10-window Campys (wider ones in back) with flaired 
fenders. But the entire production run of Boras '71-78 was only 495 cars, and 
the FIA required 500 per year to qualify as 'production'.

regained my sanity before I found one I could afford)
