The ignition lock can sometimes stick, so that you can insert the key 
almost all the way, but it won't turn.   It's not a fault of the key, it's the 
lock tumbler sticking.   When the key is inserted normally, the tumbler slides 
inwards about 1/16th of an inch before it can rotate.   If you pull the key 
out in a hurry, it can sometimes stick in the 'in' position, and then the 
next time you insert the key, it won't go in all the way.
