Dallara and the Italians get a lot of mileage out of their R&D!
Today, we benefit from that in our Detomaso cars.
Viva Dallara!

It's fairly well documented that Dallara created his original blueprint for
a Group 3 race car with the Pantera. Then when Feruccio re-hired him at
Lamborghini, he just had Gandini reskin the underlying mechanicals with the
Bizzarrini V12 to create the Countach. When BMW tapped Lambo for the M1,
Dallara was brought back to do the job as a consultant. Dallara would go on
to copy the Pantera a third time in the Maserati Bora, though that was far
more diluted compared to the Countach and the M1 "copies".
If you want more insight into how three young men (Bizzarrini, Dallara, and
Gandini) revolutionized mid-engined sports cars, read Sackey's Miura Bible
which has some fascinating interviews with Dallara and Gandini talking
about the development of these cars.
