Renegade has been converting all sorts of Porsches to V8 power for 20+ 
years. They were the first to solve the problem of getting a clutch in place 
that would hold V8 torque. The earlier Porsche transaxle has half the 
bellhousing cast onto the front of their transaxles, limiting the choice of clutches; 
Renegade chucked the whole trans in a big lathe and turned the half-housing 
off, making room for a Chev or Ford bellhousing & big clutch. A Chev V-8 
weighs slightly LESS than a DOHC Porsche 6, too so handling is not affected. 
That V8 Boxter badly needs more rear tire, though.... FWIW- J Deryke
