I have been getting multiple e-mail spams that say they have originated from
what appears to be the POCA Forum.
They start as:

Upon further review of the POCA Forum it appears that someone is posting to old
forum threads. And than it is sending spam to anyone who has an e-mail address
registered to the POCA Forum.
?
Well I can just hear all of you forum haters and antiquated e-mail list

Looks like a bot has managed to register on the forum under the name "Xiaomai"
and posted in every thread of every subsection..... at least someone's using the
POCA forum!

I think the notices go out to thread subscibers i.e. anyone who has posted in a
thread previously to notify there is updated content.

If by POCA form you mean the Detomaso email list, there is no one subscribed
with the name 'Xiaomai'. Since the spam emails are not hitting the entire
list (I don't get them for instance), I suspect that an some member's
personal email list has been hijacked.

I started receiving those emails yesterday. More today.

I believe Julian aptly described what is going on, and that Dave is confused
about the two POCA "forums".

Dave wrote -

"If by POCA forum you mean the Detomaso email list....."

No, when Julian says "the POCA Forum" he means the ..... POCA Forum; which is
how it is labeled at the POCA website on the drop down menu.

The POCA Forum is the wonderful tool Mark McWhinney created to get the POCA
Family into the 20th Century, for which the POCA Family promptly sat by and
watched as it was still-born. Surprise, it is still there and people like
Julian, Jeff and myself who have actually used more than just the photo-posting
portion of THAT POCA forum ARE getting multiple spams sourced through that site.

There is ALSO on the POCA website drop down menu a POCA E-mail Forum, and if you
are reading these words, then THAT is the forum you are on.

Yup newbies, there are TWO forums.

It goes without saying, Julian, Jeff and I would like to see the issue found and
removed.

Larry

A car club friend tells me on Monday there will be a '72 Pantera on
discovery channel's Fast N Loud at 9 PM according to Dish. AT&T guide shows
a different topic for me though. Just the messenger.

Hi guys,

You may recall that late last year, I put together a deal to buy 1965-67
Mustang brake rotors made in the original style (disc only, no hub) which
would bolt right up to the Pantera hub and allow you to have vented rotors with
stock calipers. I thought I'd sell 20 of them and got orders for 100!
All of those are long gone now.

I have had a couple of people express interest since that time. The
outfit I got them from has only six available, with a fairly high price, but I
could get as many as 30 if there was interest, and then the prices would be
the same as before.

So, is there enough interest to warrant me forking over the big bucks and
driving down to LA and back?

Mike

Hi!

I just put 5171 back together today. I used
to drive it without the shift gate, but a few accidental
shifts from first to fourth (@ WOT) have convinced
me to try the shift gate once again. Has anyone translated
what a one spline difference is in terms of inches
at the shifter relative to the gate? It seems I'm just
a little off because I can't always get it in 2nd from
first. I can also get 2nd in the 4th position, but only
from first gear. It drops into 4th just fine from
3rd. Reverse is also fine. It seems like 1 spine is
just a little too much (or maybe I missed a spline?).
Does moving the trunion bearing height change this at all
or is the adjustment's function just to get the shifter rod
out of the way of other items, like the u-joints and such?
Asked another way, how would
I move the shifter's position about 1/8" to the left or right?

Thanks,

#5171

I used the turnbuckle in the engine compartment. By loosening the lock nut and
barely threading the unit or unthreading it you can make fine adjustments before
retightening the lock nut.

Now if we could all use that forum in lieu of the other Pantera forum and I
don't mean this email system. This email system is very personal (although
sometimes a little too personal).

What would the price be if you got the 30 orders?

Mike

Premium rotors: $125 each, plus tax
Powerslot rotors: $145 each, plus tax
Powerslot cryo rotors: $165 each, plus tax

I don't know how many I could get right now, or if I would be able to sell
them for these same prices. I would hope they would be somewhere in that
ballpark though?

>>>The splines are NOT the way to do it.

There is an adjustable turnbuckle setup just forward of the trunnion
bearing. This is used to both adjust overall length of the system, and also
side-to-side positioning of the shift lever.

There are two big nuts on this beast. One of them has tiny notches in
it--this one is reverse thread! Righty loosey, lefty tighty.

If you want to adjust the length of the system, so that the shift lever is
in the proper fore-aft position, loosen both nuts. Then turn the bit in
the center (between the nuts). One way will move the lever forward, the
other way will bring it back.

If you just want to adjust side-to-side position, loosen ONE nut. You can
then move the shift lever side-to-side without moving anything downstream
of the loose nut.

As a technique, once the fore-aft position is right, you can shift the car
into 3rd gear. Use bits of cardboard (or whatever) to shim the lever so
that it is perfectly centered, then tighten the nut. Note that there is a
bit of tortional flex in the system when you tighten the nut, so that you may
find the lever is not exactly centered when you're done. Trial and error
will help out here. Sometimes I've had to jam the lever hard against one
side of the 3rd gear gate, tighten the nut, and then when I was done, the
lever was perfectly centered.

You should be able to get all gears easily, and not drag the lever against
the gate in the 1-2 shift.

Aftermarket gates (the thick aluminum ones) are often improperly machined.
They have exactly the same lateral dimensions as the stock gate, but the
vendor forgot to account for the fact that the gate is taller, so it impacts
the shift lever higher up, and prevents the same amount of side-to-side
movement. Often you can get 1-5 gears but can't get reverse, and the only
solution is to use a file and file the left side of the reverse opening in the
gate. But you should not have to do that with a factory gate.

Good luck!

Mike

There is a short run of Lexon polycarbonate windshields and door glass of being
run. Any interest out there in being in on it ? Approx price for windshield is
$535.00, door glass is $510.00. pair. Main advantage is weight savings as well
as coolness factor.

Do the windshields come with tear off strips or would we have to buy them

I don't follow Nascar so I can't really say, but what I'm talking about is
similar to the tear off strips on a helmet shield. I know that some of the
ALMS cars use them.

I use the Crane 238/248 (521141) solid flat tappet in my stroker.
11:5-1, Holley 735, Air Gap RPM, alloy small port heads.
The cam comes on very strong at around 3000 all the way to 6500 and drops off
maybe because of the induction.
The extra cubes allow very good throttle response from idle on up. Idle is not
bad and I wouldn't go any bigger for street use only.
