Time to chime in... :-) I used two home made pieces of iron with a 90 degree
end. Insert through gills, turn 90 degrees, both hands at once, one at each
end, pull absolutely vertically. If pulled straight up like that, no post
will break

If you know where the 6 posts are, a right-angle screwdriver work well for
lifting one section at a time. But NOTHING works 100% on every grille- you
WILL break a couple of the cast posts. The real problem is, the plastic
post-locks get hard & brittle, and don't flex open like they did in 1971.
There is no in-situ fix. Good luck- J Deryke
