[DeTomaso] NPC EBay expertise needed

I am trying to buy a car that is listed on EBAY. The car has cleared its
reserve. The car is local to me and I am trying to convince the seller to
sell it to me outside of the EBAY auction.

He is nervous that canceling the auction and selling to me will cost him
fees and perhaps hurt his EBAY status.  Does anyone know what happens to
the buyer if you cancel an auction after the reserve has cleared?
