[DeTomaso] problem with starter and now ignition switch

Boyd,

I had the bendix engagement issue you describe with the following Hi torque
starter:

Proform Parts 66271 - Proform High-Torque

Tried two starters had the same issue. Fixed it by adding a "fender
mounted" starter soleniod to the same starter that the bendix stuck in.
Solved my problem. Don't know why the bendix continues to engage. Yes this
starter has an attached solenoid. Yes sometimes it worked fine sometimes it
just clicked and sometimes it continued to spin. Worth a try.
