[DeTomaso] adding oil and freon to AC

If it's the York compressor, somewhere there's a diagram of how to make a
dipstick and you can check it like you would a lawnmower engine, which the York
of course resembles. I just don't remember where I saw the diagram now, it's
probably on the internets somewhere.
But if the system won't hold a vacuum, it's not time to add oil or freon.

Subject: [DeTomaso] adding oil and freon to AC
Hi,
Got my AC belt and tensioner replaced. The AC unit has not been operated for
better than 20 years. Everything looks to be in tack and in good shape. My
74 has 10K miles. I have a bottle of R12 but my question is before I turn it
on is there a way to check if there is enough oil in the unit? I see no
leaks. Thanks in advance.
