Dave Adler was a half-owner of PIM (with Jerry Sackett) and full owner 
(with Linda) of PI, the 'club'.   When the Adlers resurrected PI, and Jerry was 
starting a new Pantera business, it made sense for them to partner up for 
synergy reasons.   The business was helped by affiliation with the club, and 
the club was in turn helped by discounts offered by the business to club 
members.

But then the Adlers sold the club to George Pence.   The synergistic 
relationship remained, except the club devolved into being just a forum.   I don't 
know the specific reasons why PIM, the business, would divorce themselves 
from PI, the club (or for that matter, I don't even know if that is true--I 
am taking the previous posters at their word on that), but it would seem to 
me that there would be little for PIM to gain by giving discounts to PI 
members, as PI isn't really in a position to help PIM in any material way.

I *think* Dave Adler is still half-owner of PIM, but I don't know that for 
sure.   Jerry might have bought him out?   I know Dave was only working 
there one day a week, and that was a long time ago.
