>>>And you don't need a supercharger either. Despite not having a ton of
power, they are also light, and thus they can carry a TON of cornering
speed. A nicely prepared Miata will run about the same lap times as much more
powerful cars, because the bigger cars pull away on the straights but have to
slow down so much more in the corners.

Miatas are plentiful and dirt cheap, and the aftermarket is just incredible
for them. Parts are cheap as chips too. You can buy a decent one (I
happen to prefer the NA models, 1990-97, with the later models being the best
of the bunch) for well under $5K, or a really tricked out car for not much
more. And then you can modify it to your heart's content, for next to
nothing, and have a blast with it.

BTW, Miatas with the convertible top are widely dismissed as 'chick cars',
but a Miata with a permanently affixed bolt-on hard top and a roll bar,
Sparco racing seats, five-point harnesses, and 15x7 wheels with Spec Miata tires
(Toyo RA1) is definitely semi-studly. If it's wailing around a 35 mph
freeway onramp at 75 mph, it is definitely studly!

Mike (and yes, Lori's 1997 Miata has a permanently affixed bolt-on hard top
and a roll bar, Sparco racing seats, five-point harnesses, and 15x7 wheels
with Spec Miata tires (Toyo RA1)...)
