[DeTomaso] NPC Collective question

I don't think anyone stopped to ask what 'a good toy for him to start playing with' actually means. Is it a project to wrench on? Is your son mechanically adept and if so does he like to do it and have time? If it's strictly to drive then is the intended use street, track or a mix? Depending on some of the answers the recommendation could be quite different.
 
Buying something is the easy part, it's maintaining it once you've got it. Used race cars are relatively cheap compared to their initial new investment, but they only get more costly to maintain.
