[DeTomaso] Really Hot Header

Hi,
 
I have a 650 Holley and just noticed that the headers on cylinders 3/4 and  
7/8 are red hot . Is this caused by the carb?

Well, that's weird.  


I can't think of many things on a Holley equipped engine that would heat  
just one header.


Check everything you can think of, including all of the valves (opening  
properly), spark plugs (all the same color), plug wires, etc.

Maybe you have too much fuel in the bowl and it is overflowing into  the 
intake.   
Check you float levels.  Bill 1362

I have a holley 750 with CHI Intake and CHI3v heads. Stock  distributor 
with points eliminator. Thought about timing issues but that  probably would 
cause both headers to heat the same rate?.  My spark  plugs on the side with 
the red hot header are a little dark like being too  rich, not white or 
burned like its running lean.
