I got my Recaros off ebay years ago. They are 80s something BMW seats, they had just been recovered in a grey cloth. I got lucky $500! I love them. Take a look at Aadvarc Racing (2002parts.com) in SoCal. They have Seats and Parts if you need something.

Nevertheless, the cloth on the seats is starting to look worn.  I was planning on having them recovered in leather, with suede down the middle, and when I checked the pricing for that to be done (a year or two ago) I think it was going to cost between $1200 and $1400.  The seats are probably from the '80's, and I'm afraid getting them recovered might be tantamount to putting new wine in old wineskins, as it were.  For all I know, the foam might be just about to collapse, or the frame just about to wear out.

>>>Your Recaros are among the best seats you could buy--ever.   If they're starting to look a bit threadbare, the thing to do is have them recovered.   The high cost you referenced was due to the fact that you asked for them to be done in leather.   Leather costs a fortune.   For the sake of simplicity and style, I would suggest you should ust do them in black Recaro cloth with no adornments.   The cost should be much, much less.   As much driving as you do, you would appreciate the superior comfort that cloth offers over leather, too.
