That is a 1974 revision to the carpet for 1971 (only) Panteras.   The 
original 1971 carpeting was a many-piece affair, with eight pieces just to cover 
the floors (not counting the vertical portions, i.e. the front and front 
sides of the footwells).   This is a two-piece service replacement for that 
awkward and complex setup.

The 1972 and later cars used this simpler carpet scheme, but they were 
shaped slightly differently, and as the floorpans changed with #3636, there are 
two different versions of that (early '72, and later '72-on).   This 
according to the Ford parts book.

Could you get this 1971 replacement carpet to work in a 1973 Pantera?   I 
suspect so.   But apparently the floors are different enough that Ford felt 
compelled to create different designs for each one.

For the ultimate concours restoration of a 1971 car, this is a good buy.   
But for most of us?   $1500 buys a LOT of floormats!
