There were some built and sold years ago of fiberglas with a skin of carbon
fibe, as well as those side-scoops that replace the rear 1/4 windows, but
are not pure carbon-fiber and are not as light as they could be. A couple
were built of all-carbon both here and in Europe that weighed practically
nothing. Takes a bit of design work to make something that fits, hinges amd
latches as stock and doesn't buckle under 150 mph wind blasts, though.
Larry Stock's Pantera Parts Connection advertized a year or so ago that his
shop could build them to order- the stuff processes like glass cloth but is
3X as expensive and needs a resin thats as good as the cloth- which means
wear protective clothing when working with the stuff. Aircraft-Spruce has
sold carbon-fiber cloth & resins for home-built aircraft for decades if you
want to give it a try at home. Good luck- JDeryke
