Good information to know.Going lean when you really need it at the higher rpm's is bad!I did not have that as problem with the Summit carb i had, as the 302 was just a stock 5.0L HO roller motor out of a lincoln at the time. With the supercharger on there now, lean is where parts go Kablooey. Now i have a special modified(power valve referenced to the intake) Holley for use on roots type blowers and it is actually running on the rich side.Waiting for my new headers with O2 sensors to dial it in.

I will post this to the forum so others can see as it may prevent a lean engine problem from happening.

Thanks,Richard

Hi Richard! The original Holley design of the 4011 series carbs, was a good
unit for everyday driving, but they were short on delivery on the big end,
for all out performance. Remember reading in Hot Rod magazine, after they
had been in production for several years, Holley annouced they were going to
revise the fuel passages in the carbs, for better top end use, but, shortly
after that, they discontinued the entire series, it included 600, 650, 750,
and 800 cfm carbs. I do NOT know if Summit had those intended revisions
done, orjust had  Holley start remaking the carburetors, with their name on
them. If you want to repost this to the net, that would be fine. Best
regards, mike gilmore, 1984 GT-5. -----Original Message-----

Mikael,

I had the Summit carb on my mustang before i put the supercharger on it and
it was as you said an excellent carb.

I did have a heat soak problem with it after the car had been parked for 30
minutes or so after driving it.I cured it by using a phenolic spacer. So the
aluminum carbs still have the same problems with heat as normal Holleys. At
least for me it did.

For what its worth the Summit carb is actually a Holley design from the late
1980's.I think if i recall correctly they were the 4010 and 4011
series.Unfortunately they had very poor sales so they stopped selling them.I
am happy that summit sells them as they are a good carb.Lighter than regular
Holley's as well!

Richard
