[DeTomaso] What's going on in the parts business?

When I was a child (early 60"s) "made in Japan" was synonymous with cheap
crap. One big difference was that Japan was being controlled by the United
States and they were being prepared to make the transition from a
Totalitarian Monarchy to a capitalist democracy. China was a totalitarian
communist state that has become  a hybrid form of Government that is a
combination of Communism, capitalism and socialism. China is a right-wing
Leninist State, not a Communist one. Leninism is the political theory that
a single party rules the government and governs all affairs as opposed to
individual politicians. The confusion stems from the fact that the single
party in China is the Communist Party even though they do not practice
Communist political theory, but rather state-directed, right-wing economic
and political theory. Since the economic reforms of 1978 China has become the
world's fastest -growingmajor economy. As of 2013, it is the world's
second-largest economy by both nominal total GDP and purchasing power
parity, and is also the world's largest exporter and importer of
goods. China is a recognized nuclear weapons state and has the world's
largest standing army, with the second largest defence budget. ( with the
US still holding the no.1 position in that category) 0ne has to wonder how
long the US will be able to maintain this position with such a significant
disparity in the other areas. China also has the worlds largest population
with1,359,130,000 people (or 19.1 % of the worlds population)

( the US has the third largest population with a mere 316,378,000 or only
4.45%).

While the Japanese have now become synonymous with some of the worlds
highest quality technological goods they are also stringent followers of
the world court and respect copyright laws , trademarks and Patents while
the Chinese show total disregard for the same fundamentals that are key to
international law and steal other countries technology rather then develop
their own.

The Japanese have the 10th largest population with a population of
126,817,277 but a standing military of only 239,430.Yet they have the
worlds third largest economy.

 The first Chinese dynasty that left written records was between 18,000 and
11,000 BCE (same as BC). Between the 10th and 11 century China already had
a population of 100 million. They invented gunpowder, rockets ,some of the
earliest and most advanced medicine and pharmacology. They have had wars
that lasted longer then the US has existed (300 years). So unless we make
some radical changes to the way we are operating as a country and a people
 we can expect to be come another footnote in the history of China's
predominance as a major world power or *THE* *major world power.*

I don't want a bunch of people to think I am unpatriotic or a defeatist,
but in the beginning of world war II we almost got are asses handed to us
by the Japanese.Some of you know my grandfather was a Major General the
Chief military engineer in the Pacific theater of WWII and I can show you
books written by members of the military who's official position before
WWII was that the Asian was not suited to operating aircraft due to their
physical inferiority and their vision problems caused by their slanted eyes
and there fore posed no real threat to our strapping physically superior
American soldier. (Anyone who has ever spoken to a US service man that
fought on Iwo Jima , Gudalcanal or any of the countless other battles where
GI's , Marines , or Sailors fought the Japs in Hand to Hand combat can tell
you “just how easy it was” You can add Korea and Vietnam to the list.

 There is a famous adage I'm sure you have all heard. Those who forget the
past are doomed to relive it.
