[DeTomaso] Powdercoating Original Rims

Hi Stephen,

I had all my rims powder coated on my Mangusta-1196- in 2007 with no problems since. I had 100% of the rim coated and always apply anti-sieze to any dissimilar metal rubbing faces.

Only problem was that the coating negated some of the original, unique and rough casting surfaces and made the rims look too perfect. I think mine were done in the 9 mill thickness which for looks not durability was too thick. Should be about 4 mills for a better look and not as strong against out gassing.

Also as this letter goes out to so many De Tomaso people, I thought you all would like to see why Tom Tjaarda will not be at Pebble this year.
Tom sent me this mail a few days ago.

Hope this info helps,

Jeff Cobb
