[DeTomaso] Taillight Housing Extra Socket?

My best guess is that a previous owner installed a rear fog light ( for
cars behind to see him in fog or increment weather) when the main lights
are not on.

Or

It could be a parking light, since many european cars park on the side of
the road, it is lit up when the car is parked in a precarious(sp) position
to hopefully keep some moron from running into your car.
