[DeTomaso] Electric Water Pumps, The 21st Century of Water Circulation: Part Deux Cleveland Engines

Guys:

For what it's worth, Meziere used to make a 351C specific pump. I know this
because I've held one in my hands a few years ago. But that specific pump
is no longer listed in their 2013 web catalog. So I did a search, and found
3 vendors that currently carry them "in stock", specifically for the
Cleveland engine. Or at least that's what their web page says. However, be
aware that Meziere makes/made* two *versions of the 351C pump, a 35 GPM,
and a "high flow" (55 GPM) pump. The 35 GPM pumps are a lot less than the
"high flow" versions ($125 versus $260+).

The other thing is that these vendor listings show the pumps in the $260 to
$350 range. It varies depending on fitting sizes, finish, and color.

My point is that if you do want an electric pump, call Meziere
directly, get the specific part number for the pump you want, then search
your favorite online vendor.

If you do this, you probably won't have to wait until you win the
lottery... Then there's that 11-14 HP gain for $350, which is not a bad
deal... and it gives you a lot of flexibility as Julian mentions.

(The following is a shameless plug for Dave Londry and his PowerOne system).

Dave Londry provides control flexibility with his PowerOne system
for electrically driven, or controlled devices. I've integrated it into my
car's management system, and it's letting me do things I couldn't with my
ECU. A stand alone system with excellent flexibility and control (and Dave
doesn't even *know I'm saying this*.....).

Oh, and one more thought for all of you 20th century auto enthusiasts; how
many of us can remember when electric radiator fans were thought to be
frivolous inventions of the Devil? Real men had belt driven fans that
could suck small children into their pick-up radiator at a fast idle! Now
almost every new production car uses electric fans due to the control they
give the car's management system. Better economy, quieter, better
performance, quieter, and simply all around "better", not to mention *
quieter*....

Just a thought... I have no personal financial interest in Meziere, or any
electric fan manufacturer...*.... *
