They can squeal, they can grind, they can chatter.   Any noticeable noise 
is not good.

They are a pain   to get to, but simple enough to change.   They have to be 
pressed in and out of the carrier.   Take a hard look at the clutch and 
flywheel while you're there.

Mike (who didn't take a hard enough look at his own clutch and flywheel 
when he was last there, and now has clutch chatter that could easily have been 
taken care of when the engine was out of the car...grrrr....)
