"They" are wrong, I think--there are probably other Norwegian owners (even 
on this forum) who have the manufacturer listed as De Tomaso--or at least 
some variant of that.

Having said that, since your car is a USA car, it is possible that the 
original dealer incorrectly listed it as a Ford rather than a De Tomaso, and now 
the Norwegian authorities are simply following the old paperwork rather 
than changing it.

Mine is listed as "DTMASO" because there are only so many letters 
available.   And my VWs are listed as "VOLK".
