[DeTomaso] Exhaust question

Chuck,

I remember seeing another such pipe on Roger Sharp's white car. It was
behind the rear sway bar brackets.

Dear Chuck,

I would very much like to see pictures of such an installation.
As Mike said, the physical dimensions of our chassis and powertrain preclude
any effective X pipe or crossover unless it is so small to be ineffective or
so low that it is a ground clearance hazard. The only crossover pipe I
have ever seen was on Bob Woodhouse's old SCCA Pantera and it was mounted
far downstream from the optimal point. It was behind the sway bar mounts.
I am skeptical that it would eliminate resonance.

There are a few cars in the registry that show an X-pipe. I'm told on more
than one car, it eliminated the resonance.

>>>Yes, but the realities of the Pantera chassis preclude the fitment of
>>>an
effective crossover. It needs to be located relatively close to the
collectors to be effective. Mind Train offered one that went behind the
rear
sway bar (as an option) but it's never been demonstrated to have any effect
other than adding weight.

On the other hand, I can tell you from personal experience that adding a
crossover to my GT350 clone knocked a few DB off the noise signature and
made
it quieter inside. I can't honestly say I could tell any performance
change though.
