[DeTomaso] good news?

I echo this thinking.  Audi has been nothing but good for Lambo.  Even the Countach's and Diablos are starting to hold their value now and the Miura is now a true collector in spite of its many faults and no real racing history.

Yes, logo vendors would have problems. Yes, the cars might be lame and volume produced.

Are we still going to have parts available for our older cars? Why not? I haven't bought a factory part for any old cars I've owned in years.

Ferrari tightened up their licensed merchandise in the late 90s. Although, I'm not missing my Ferrari logo toothbrush very much.

The upside *could* be very good. Renewed interest in the older cars, soaring values. Big events that showcase Tom Tjaarda, Brian Redman, the racing history of the marque and all else related.

I can't imagine going to an ALMS race and watching a Detomaso race...that would be amazing.

I'm excited about the potential of BMW (or whatever German company is currently interested) celebrating and exposing the true Italian heritage of the marque and downplaying the Ford involvement. This will represent the true passion and history of what was done in Italy to create these cars.

What am I missing? Why would it shut down our vendors?  I buy most all of
my BMW parts from Bavarian Auto, not the BMW dealer.  If anything, it could
give them more business when the brand recognition kicks in and they can do
aftermarket parts.
